Brief

Thesis: Batman, also known as the Dark Knight, is the greatest superhero created.

Audience: Anyone interested in comic books or comic book characters that appear in movies and TV shows.

Evidence:
1. Unlike all other well known superheros, Batman possesses no superpower or mutation. Bruce Wayne is normal human with extensive training and wealth to fund his vigilante adventures.

2. Instead of relying on superpowers, Batman uses his intelligence to do detective work and uses his resources for stealth, only using violence when necessary.

3. Batman doesn't kill, he seeks justice through the court system

4. Batman helps people both as Billionair Bruce Wayne and as a vigilante crime fighter

i like your topic. You might need to find some quotes or outside sources to really back up what you are saying though.

I think that your topic will be interesting, however I think that you need to supply more information in your brief. I think that for each point you made you need to give more examples. For example you said he uses intelligence, give some examples of that. I think that you should do that for each point that you made.

You're wrong. There's no way that Batman is better than Superman. He's got tons of money that he could give to the poor or something but instead uses it to pay his butler with. I forgot to mention that Superman is also practically invincible.

Jonathan,

Your brief is to the point, but like Kelley and Harper mentioned, you need to have information to support your reasons. The points you make are extremely good. Make sure you can take the counter-argument that Bruce Wayne is an elitist-millionaire to which most average readers can't relate. But at the same time, he is a celebrity of sorts, the iconic figure (some) Americans desire, either consciously or unconsciously. Evidence, evidence, evidence.

Batman has an excess of wealth. Some of his money is needed to fund all the things he uses to fight crime, but there is also a good amount there that isn't necessary. He lives in a huge mansion with a butler. That money could go to the people but instead he uses it to ease his own life.
The fact that Batman doesn't kill people may actually be a hindrance to him. For some people, jail is rehabilitating, but for others it does nothing to change their minds about crime. Once they get out, they could easily fall right back into the same lifestyle as before, meaning that really Batman's work never ends. He deals with the same people over and over. On the other hand, death is a relatively good deterrent and Batman wouldn't have to deal with the same people over and over again.
How does Bruce Wayne help people? Even if he is somewhat philanthropic, he still doesn't give as much as he could.
It is impressive that he has been able to protect Gotham city without any super powers.
